Turner Padget Recognized as Leading Litigation Firm by Benchmark

 

Six shareholders also honored as leading litigators in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C., October 9, 2009 — Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. is pleased to announce that it has been recognized in the 2010 edition of Benchmark: A Definitive Guide to America’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys as a recommended litigation firm in South Carolina. Benchmark also named Turner Padget shareholders Edward Laney IV, W. Duvall Spruill and John Wilkerson as “Local Litigation Stars” and three additional shareholders, Richard S. Dukes, Nicholas W. Gladd and D. Andrew (“Drew”) Williams, as “Future Stars.”

In its editorial review of the firm, Benchmark notes that Turner Padget “…has 91 attorneys skilled in defense litigation and capable of trying all sorts of matters, from small cases to large class actions. Mr. Laney, based in the firm’s Columbia office, is the chief executive officer of Turner Padget. Of his practice, Benchmark notes, “Firm CEO Edward Laney stands out among his peers for his prolific insurance litigation work.” He represents insurance companies and their policyholders in complex personal injury cases, coverage issues and bad faith actions.

Mr. Spruill, based in the firm’s Columbia office, focuses on construction and commercial litigation, representing bonding companies, contractors, sub-contractors and developers. A significant portion of his practice also includes banking-related disputes, including fidelity and fraud matters.

Mr. Wilkerson, based in the firm’s Charleston office, represents clients with complex litigation matters, and has particular experience as a trial lawyer in the areas of professional malpractice, commercial litigation, products liability, insurance “bad faith” litigation and complex insurance coverage disputes. He is also a certified civil mediator in state and federal courts.

Mr. Dukes, based in the firm’s Charleston office, focuses on professional liability and business litigation. His broad practice includes commercial litigation, securities litigation and arbitration, shareholder disputes, directors and officers liability, and the defense of real estate developers and builders in actions brought by homeowners.

Mr. Gladd, based in the firm’s Columbia office, is an integral part of Turner Padget’s products liability team. He focuses on the defense of automotive manufacturers.

Mr. Williams, based in the firm’s Columbia office, defends general contractors and subcontractors against construction, premises liability and other related claims. He also represents food service companies, including grocery stores, in product liability and premises liability cases.
