Leadership South Carolina (“LSC”)
has selected Michelle Clayton as part of the
program’s Class of 2009. Michelle practices primarily
in the areas of business
litigation and employment law
and is a member of the Firm’s Recruiting and Diversity
Committees.
Since 1979, LSC has provided
gifted and highly motivated South Carolinians an
opportunity to advance their leadership qualities while
broadening their understanding of issues facing the
state.
Each year, LSC selects
approximately 50 individuals through a competitive
process to participate in the program. Last year, LSC
received nearly 200 applications or nominations.
The selection committee
places major emphasis on the individual’s demonstrated
abilities as a leader and on their personal past record
of service in a leadership capacity. LSC’s typical
class is comprised of managers and executives from South
Carolina’s largest companies and officials from state
and local governments, chambers of commerce, and other
stakeholders who have a vested interest in improving the
State.
The program presents
opportunities for personal growth, including assessments
of learning and leadership styles. Class sessions
include presentations, panels, experiential learning,
and a great deal of interaction between class members
and presenters. The program begins in August and
concludes next April, with sessions in Columbia,
Charleston, Spartanburg, Greenwood, Myrtle Beach, and
Clemson. This year’s class will study and debate
numerous issues facing South Carolina, including
education, the economy, preservation of natural
resources, and various social problems.
Michelle has a unique opportunity to learn from and
develop valuable personal and professional relationships
with business and governmental leaders, while working to
improve South Carolina. The Firm congratulates Michelle
for her acceptance into the LSC program.
