Brad B. Easterling
Brad Easterling began his career as a law clerk to former Circuit Court Judge James E. Brogdon, Jr. of Marion, S.C. As a law clerk, he observed numerous civil and criminal trials, which laid a strong foundation to develop solid litigation skills. Prior to joining Turner Padget in 2005, Brad furthered his litigation skills as a construction and general litigator with two well-respected defense firms in South Carolina. Now practicing almost exclusively in workers’ compensation defense, Brad represents employers and insurance companies in claims brought by employees throughout South Carolina. Born and raised in Kingstree, S.C., Brad frequently travels to the Pee Dee region to enjoy hunting a variety of wildlife. In the fall, he can be found at Death Valley watching his favorite Clemson Tiger football team.
“Driven by a strong passion to defend and protect industry in South Carolina, I strive to achieve positive results for my clients.”
Representative Matters
Workers’ Compensation
- Represented a local automotive supplier in a claim filed by an employee alleging a severe neck injury due to repetitive activities as part of her job. With the help of an ergonomic expert, Brad convinced the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission that the claimant had not met her burden of proof under the state’s reformed workers’ compensation laws, and he obtained a defense verdict barring the employee from benefits.
- Represented multiple insurance companies in obtaining reimbursement from the South Carolina Second Injury Fund.
- Represented a South Carolina hospital in a claim filed by an employee for an ankle injury. Despite the fact that the insurance company had previously accepted the claim, Brad obtained a decision from the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission, barring the claimant’s recovery after proving that her ballet dancing worsened her condition.
