Daniel G. Hart
After earning his master’s degree in taxation, Daniel Hart joined Turner Padget in 2005. He manages a general transactional practice, overseeing numerous types of transactions for businesses and individuals throughout South Carolina. Daniel takes a hands on approach to ensure that clients fully understand complex business transactions and estate planning issues including buying and selling businesses, choice of entity when starting a business, liability protection for business owners, business succession planning upon death or retirement, commercial real estate transactions, estate tax minimization strategies, probate administration, and Medicaid planning for clients and their family members who may be entering a nursing home.
Daniel has significant experience drafting and negotiating asset and stock purchase agreements for business acquisitions, and he advises clients on the income tax consequences of these transactions. He has also counseled many new business owners in the formation of corporations and limited liability companies, and he drafts bylaws, buy-sell agreements and partnership/operating agreements.
A large portion of Daniel’s practice is dedicated to assisting clients with their estate planning needs by drafting documents such as wills, powers of attorney, revocable living trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, qualified personal residence trusts and asset protection/Medicaid protection trusts. He also advises clients on avoiding probate administration to ensure the smoothest possible transfer of assets upon death. Additionally, he frequently represents personal representatives during the probate administration process, prepares estate tax returns to be filed with the IRS, and represents personal representatives during the IRS estate tax return examination process.
