Jimmy C. Powell, Jr. “Jim”
Jim Powell has practiced law in South Carolina since 1999. The focus of his career in its early stages was on insurance defense, where he handled automobile personal injury, premises liability and related matters. Jim has had the opportunity to try jury cases at all levels of the South Carolina court system. Over time, Jim became involved in handling construction defect cases, where he represents developers, general contractors, subcontractors and material providers. His construction cases have diversified over time from the handling of many exterior insulation and finishing system (EIFS) cases to claims involving toxic mold, massive water intrusion and significant personal injury.
Today, Jim spends the majority of his time handling construction liability, significant personal injury, and insurance related cases in the commercial setting. Jim also handles product liability matters related to construction defects. He counsels clients regarding disputes between homeowners’ associations and their members, usually relating to development and real estate matters.
Jim is a native of Horry County, South Carolina, and has spent his entire career practicing in the Myrtle Beach area.
