Tucker Cecil

Tucker Cecil initially entered the practice of law in her hometown of Charleston, S.C. with The Hood Law Firm. She moved to Columbia in 1992 and started working at Turner Padget in a general practice that included the defense of individuals and businesses in automobile accidents, premises liability, product liability, malpractice claims and coverage issues. In 1995, she desired to return to her family and friends in Charleston, and had the opportunity to help open the firm’s Charleston office. She initially serviced many of the firm’s clients, which provided her experience in handling insurance matters pertaining to disputes arising out of motor vehicle, homeowners, products, premises and nursing/medical malpractice. She regularly appeared in federal, state and municipal courts, where she tried numerous cases to verdict in these various venues. She might be the only attorney who actually had to appear and try a case in Hampton County, which is known as one of the most liberal counties in the state and where most cases are settled. She also successfully defended and tried an automobile coverage case in the court of appeals.

Tucker’s practice changed focus from representing local and national businesses to addressing workers’ compensation matters. Her practice now concentrates on the defense of businesses and people in complex workers’ compensation claims. She actively tries and mediates many claims. She has closely worked with an extensive network of expert and legal support professionals in the Charleston community to provide access and solutions for her clients’ legal needs.

Tucker has three children and numerous family and friends in the Charleston community. She is active in her children’s schools, her family farm on Edisto Island, S.C. She enjoys traveling by motorcycle with her husband, and she has visited national parks throughout the U.S., Italy and New Zealand.

“I am fortunate to have been provided a reduced work schedule so that I can spend time raising my children. You realize in life you have to make choices that affect many people. It really matters not what you become but who you become.”
