Biography

Kristen serves clients in the areas of bankruptcy, commercial law and litigation, foreclosure, debtor/creditor law, landlord/tenant law, and creditor’s rights. A detail-oriented person by nature, Kristen applies a pragmatic approach to her work, allowing her to provide creative yet realistic solutions to problems.

Within the creditors’ rights arena, Kristen regularly represents local and regional banks, lenders, investors, and small businesses on matters involving loan resolution, asset recovery, contract modification and renegotiation, and bankruptcy.  Kristen prides herself in great client service, and works hard to build lasting business relationships founded on trust. Her ability to focus on the big-picture paired with critical thinking and a knack for negotiation achieves successful results in even the most complex situations. In addition to representation in a variety of matters in both state and federal court, Kristen often advises clients on compliance issues involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and regulations implemented by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Her dynamic personality, experience, and ability to actively listen are the reasons she is chosen by her peers to assist in resolution of foreclosure cases through mediation. Kristen has been a certified mediator since 2012.

Kristen has lectured and served as a panelist on several consumer bankruptcy, debtor/creditor, and foreclosure law continuing education programs and has served as a guest speaker to bankruptcy classes at the Charleston School of Law. An active member of the Charleston chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), an organization dedicated to advancing the achievements of women in commercial real estate through business development, leadership, and community outreach. Kristen served as Vice President in 2015 and is now President in 2016.

Kristen is active in the Junior League of Charleston and spends a large majority of her free time volunteering and fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in memory of her father. Since 2008, she has run more than twenty full and half marathons with the Charleston chapter of Team in Training as a participant, mentor, and coach. When she isn’t running, Kristen channels her love of teaching at Gold’s Gym where she serves as an instructor for spinning and body pump classes. Both Charleston natives, she and her husband enjoy traveling and spending time with their daughter and three dogs outdoors at the beach and on the boat.
