General Biography
Sarah G. J. Verstraten graduated from the College of
Charleston in 2001, cum laude, with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education and a minor in
Communication Studies. In January of 2002, Sarah was
commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and
served on active duty for nearly five years at Dover Air
Force Base, DE, and the Defense Distribution Center in New
Cumberland, PA, before starting law school in 2006 at the
Charleston School of Law.
While in law school, Sarah clerked during the summer and
school year at Turner Padget in Charleston where she
solidified strong research and writing skills drafting legal
memoranda and briefs for various firm attorneys in the
practice areas of Employment Law, Professional Liability,
Product Liability, Business Litigation, Motor-Vehicle Tort
Litigation, Personal Injury, Premises Liability, Probate,
Land Use and Workers' Compensation. During the school
year she served as a member of the law school's Moot Court
Board, Mock Trial Competition Team, and conducted legal
research on Criminal Procedure in South Carolina as a
Research Assist to the Dean. Sarah joined the
Charleston office of Turner Padget in the fall of 2009 and
practices on the litigation team.
