Support Staff

The firm has enthusiastically embraced the concept of using paralegals as attorney assistants in a number of different applications. Our litigation teams employ a number of talented paralegals who assist in the preparation of complex cases. Applicants for paralegal positions must generally have an undergraduate degree and be a graduate from an accredited paralegal school. Extensive experience as a paralegal may substitute for a four-year degree.

The secretarial and administrative staff is the backbone of the firm. Support Staff Opportunities

We are currently seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Litigation Paralegal for our Charleston office. Responsibilities include:

  • Document management and analysis for large cases.
  • Preparation and service of subpoenas and other discovery requests.
  • Preparation of pleadings and discovery responses.
  • Preparation of routine status reports to clients or national counsel.
  • Statewide roster/docket monitoring.
  • Electronic filings/ECF with Federal Court.

Candidates should have the following skills and/or attributes:

  • Three to five years of Litigation experience is required.
  • Thorough understanding of the litigation process.
  • Experience with insurance company billing requirements.
  • Paralegal Certification is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc…)
  • Professional demeanor, excellent communication and computer skills and the ability to manage a large caseload in a fast-paced environment.


We are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Project Assistant in our Columbia office.


  • File management
  • Draft, review, and/or edit documents and correspondence
  • Prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, etc.
  • Draft complaints and answers, routine notices, affidavits, motions and petitions.
  • Perform assigned legal research tasks.
  • Establish, organize and maintain pleading boards, attorney trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists.
  • Billing
  • Trial preparation
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Litigation experience is preferred.
  • BA degree and/or Paralegal Certificate REQUIRED.
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other legal software applications.
  • Candidate must be flexible with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
