Feb 17, 2011
Michelle Clayton has been selected to participate in the 2011 South Carolina Bar’s Leadership Academy. The South Carolina Bar’s Leadership Academy is a highly selective program designed to equip young lawyers (in practice from three to 10 years) with networking opportunities, professionalism training, community awareness and other skills necessary to give back to the profession and position themselves as leaders in the community. The class meets once a month for approximately six months, with each month’s program focusing on a different topic. Participants are given opportunities to connect with judges and legislators, gaining insight into the political process and opportunities for community leadership. Participants also learn from seasoned lawyers on topics of professionalism and rainmaking, including how to have healthy relationships with clients, judges and colleagues. Current issues facing the Bar and the importance of pro bono and community service are also emphasized. Ms. Clayton is based in the Columbia office and has a diverse practice that focuses on employment law defense, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy.
