Turner Padget Selected to “The Midsize Hot List” of Law Firms by The National Law Journal
Jun 10, 2009
Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. is pleased to announce that it has been selected by The National Law Journal as one of 20 law firms included in “The Midsize Hot List.” Turner Padget is the only South Carolina-based firm to be honored, and one of only a handful of firms from the Southeast included on the list, which was published in The National Law Journal’s print and online editions today.
“We are particularly pleased to earn this national recognition that highlights our ability to anticipate and continually stay in front of our clients’ needs,” said Edward W. Laney IV, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “We have a deep understanding of what it means to do business in South Carolina, and our lawyers know what it takes to be successful here. That capability translates itself into alternative fee arrangements, efficient case management and a wide range of service offerings.”
“The Midsize Hot List” is an inaugural feature in The National Law Journal, and highlights law firms from around the country with 50 to 300 attorneys that have demonstrated creative, innovative strategies to stay competitive, particularly during a recession. Criteria considered in the selection process include the ways these firms recruit legal talent, train associates, bill clients, develop practice areas, and structure management.
The National Law Journal was impressed with Turner Padget’s commitment to its associate-level attorneys. “It gives first-year associates hands-on experience in handling cases from their first day,” the publication notes. “In Turner Padget’s litigation practice, all of the partners and 27 of the firm’s 32 associates have first-chair trial experience.”
The firm recently reorganized its governance structure, allowing for a more cohesive approach to management. “Ultimately, this shift provides us with the opportunity to enhance client service, attract and retain top lawyers, and improve our day-to-day operations,” said Laney.
