Probate Administration

Not only do our estate planning attorneys have experience in creating and implementing the most sophisticated of estate plans, we also guide our clients in the administration of trusts and estates.  Our attorneys give crucial advice to both individual and institutional fiduciaries regarding all aspects of probate and trust administration, including post-mortem tax planning and estate tax return preparation. With our statewide presence, we can assist with estate administration in any county in the state.  It is comforting to our clients to know that the same attorneys who designed their estate plan will also be there to guide their families through the intricacies of probate administration.

If there should be litigation within the estate, such as a will contest, a claim by an heir or a creditor, or a dispute over how to construe a will, our estate attorneys in conjunction with our litigation team can handle that dispute.

Our estate and trust attorneys have many years of experience and include a former probate judge. Several of our attorneys have advanced degrees in taxation and are recognized as certified specialists by the Supreme Court of South Carolina in both estate planning/probate law and taxation.  The depth and breadth of our knowledge and experience in this area comes, in part, from staying on top of legislative and industry developments.  Some of our attorneys sit on a committee to review and suggest changes to South Carolina’s Probate Code, with one of our attorneys serving as the chair. We know that estate and trust administration can be  stressful, and our familiarity with the laws and procedure can greatly ease this difficult process.
