Turner Padget Expands Greenville Office With Two Shareholders

Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. announces the addition of two shareholders to its Greenville, S.C. office. J. Kenneth Carter, Jr., a member of the firm's Executive Committee, relocates from Columbia to lead Turner Padget's recruiting and training efforts in the Upstate. Carter also chairs the Product Liability, Construction Defect and Trucking & Transportation Practices, areas that support businesses up and down the I-85 corridor. In addition, Turner Padget adds Harriet Pollitt Wallace as a Greenville-based shareholder in the firm's Business Litigation Practice.

Wayne Byrd, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. "Ken has been a long-time member of the firm, and many of his cases have set precedents for the laws in our state. Along with Harriet, for whom we have great respect, the two will provide top-notch client service and on-the-ground mentorship for our younger attorneys in Greenville."

Carter serves as state and regional counsel for automotive manufacturers, trucking and transportation companies, construction and building product manufacturers, as well as a number of other product manufacturers and medical device companies. He defends the most severe, high-exposure cases in both state and federal courts. For many years, he has served as South Carolina counsel for one of the "Big Three" domestic automobile manufacturers, overseeing the company's product liability cases throughout the state.

Carter is recognized by his peers and clients for his legal achievements and commitment to client service. He has been named as a leading litigator in South Carolina by the prestigious legal directories Chambers USA and Benchmark Litigation. He is also included among the Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers for his work in product liability defense. Carter is an active member of several legal organizations, including Business Counsel, Inc., the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association's Torts and Insurance Practice Section.

Carter earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina.

Wallace counsels clients involved in foreclosures, claim and deliveries, collections, workouts and bankruptcies. As a member of Turner Padget's Business Litigation Practice, she expands the firm's capabilities to serve clients with bankruptcy and creditors' rights needs.

She is a licensed title agent, and counsels title companies and lenders in title claims and title curative litigation. She also represents lenders in complex or contested foreclosures and bankruptcies. She also has experience working with banks and non-bank lenders in Small Business Administration (SBA) economic development lending transactions.

Wallace serves as a board member for the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association, and is actively involved in the South Carolina Bar Association and the Greenville Bar Association. She is also a member of the South Carolina Bankers Association and CREW Upstate, an organization made up of the region's leading women in commercial real estate.

Her leadership extends to the community: She serves on the board of directors for Greenville Centre Stage and is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina.

Wallace earned her undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston and her law degree from the University of South Carolina.
