Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. announces that Audra Byrd has been elected as a shareholder of the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Based in the Myrtle Beach office, Byrd is a member of Turner Padget’s Business and Commercial Litigation Practice.

“Audra’s exemplary commitment to her clients, our firm and the legal profession make her an accomplished addition to our shareholder ranks,” said R. Wayne Byrd, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “After joining our firm more than eight years ago, Audra quickly found her place in our litigation practice as a valued resource for clients involved in complex matters. Her leadership is further demonstrated by her ongoing support to help us develop our associates. We are pleased to announce this well-deserved elevation to shareholder.”

Byrd counsels clients involved in business disputes and probate litigation. She represents insurance companies, large corporations, small businesses and individuals. Her work has included matters ranging from shareholder oppression to business defamation and civil conspiracy, and she advises corporate clients with debt collection and contract disputes. She also regularly defends personal injury and premises liability claims.

She has been recognized by her peers as one of South Carolina Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars for three consecutive years in the area of civil litigation.

Byrd is an active member of the South Carolina Bar Association and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. An active contributor to her community, she serves as secretary of the Lakewood Elementary Improvement Council and as a coach of the Forestbrook Middle School Mock Trial Team in Myrtle Beach, a program instituted and operated by the South Carolina Bar Association’s Law Related Education Division. Byrd has led the team to victories in two consecutive state championships, as well as two victories in the “Battle of the Carolinas,” where the group defeated seven other teams from North and South Carolina.
