Turner Padget Shareholder Relocates Back to Columbia

Posted On May 05, 2015

Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A. announced today that shareholder Mark B. Goddard will return to the firm’s Columbia office from Myrtle Beach, where he has practiced since 2012. Goddard was based in Columbia before moving to expand the firm’s business litigation capabilities in Myrtle Beach. He returns to lead the business litigation practice in the Midlands, and to assist with Turner Padget’s recruiting and training efforts firmwide.

“Mark’s relocation is part of our ongoing efforts to more fully provide strategic legal counsel and serve as trusted business partners to our clients,” said R. Wayne Byrd, chief executive officer of Turner Padget. “We have two areas of need in our Columbia office – related to client service and to the development of our younger attorneys – that Mark will address. When we surveyed the landscape in search of the right person for this position, Mark was undoubtedly the right choice. We had actually moved him to Myrtle Beach to be groomed as a preeminent business litigator, and his results and work ethic over the last several years were exemplary. We are excited about Mark rejoining our Columbia team, and are even more pleased that this move is a positive one for his entire family.”

Goddard joined Turner Padget as a law clerk in 2005, and has since developed an active litigation practice, focused in business and corporate litigation, complex insurance litigation matters and coverage disputes, and probate litigation. He has gained extensive trial and arbitration experience, and has led more than 25 cases to verdict in venues throughout South Carolina.

“While in Myrtle Beach, I had the great opportunity to be exposed to a number of unique and complex litigation matters, and to work with some of the leading local businesses in the Grand Strand,” said Goddard. “I’m excited to be returning ‘home’ to take on new responsibilities for our firm and to serve my clients from Columbia.”

Goddard’s extensive trial experience has allowed him the opportunity to serve a diverse client base, from individuals to large corporations. He enjoys working with clients to tailor his litigation strategy to meet their objectives.

A native of South Carolina, Goddard earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina.
