Posted On Sep 18, 2015

In an article posted by the Associated Press on Sept. 17, 2015, Rene Josey provides his legal perspective in the investigation of the Charleston, S.C. church massacre. A friend of the shooter is being investigated for withholding information from the police, and Josey states that “… federal officials can keep investigations secret until someone in charged, or they can opt to let subjects know they are under investigation – as they did – in hopes that the subject will get an attorney.” Josey emphasizes that, by letting the individual know he is under investigation, he will be able to hire a lawyer and “the legal process can ultimately run more smoothly in the event that charges are brought.” To read the full article, click here.
