"Nickisha Woodward Speaks on Flowertown's Career Readiness Initiative Panel"

On February 15, 2016 Flowertown Elementary School hosted a panel of speakers as part of the School Improvement Council's Career Readiness Initiative. The panelists spoke to 4th and 5th graders about their chosen careers and took questions from the students. Turner Padget's Nickisha Woodward shared her experiences as an attorney, her love for History in school and the importance of reading and writing in her career as a lawyer. Other careers highlighted at the panel included a computer systems engineer, a news anchor, a retired Air Force Major, a Harbor Pilot, a hotel general manger, an architect, an Art Therapist, an interior designer, and the owner of an Arts Academy.The Career Readiness Initiative is a project to highlight a wide variety of careers to young students to expose them to different career opportunities where they can build on their talents, skills, and passions. The Initiative includes Career Spotlight videos played on The Morning Show to all students as well as the Career Panel. Ms. Woodward shared a video as well. The School Improvement Council (SIC) serves as an advisory committee to the school's principal and faculty. Turner Padget attorney, Ashley Heslop is currently serving as Chairperson and has been a member since 2011.
