Cole has over forty-five years of experience in handling matters of all kinds, with emphasis in recent years on defense of larger personal injury civil litigation.
Cole was formerly in practice in the Upstate of South Carolina, where he was state counsel for the largest petroleum pipeline company in the United States and also served as U.S. general counsel for one of the world’s oldest manufacturers of sophisticated textile machinery, with headquarters in the Upstate. In that capacity, Cole was involved in a large patent infringement case involving a patent crucial to tow competitors in the textile machinery industry.
Cole also handled litigated matters for a number of liability insurance companies in all counties of the Upstate, as well as across many other counties outside the Upstate, including livestock mortality insurance and the like.
Cole has handled numerous appeals in both state and federal courts, a number of which are reported cases.
Cole is a member of the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference.
Cole is regularly consulted on matters involving complex issues of liability and damages in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and is also regularly assigned the defense of such matters when they enter litigation.
Cole is experienced in developing and recommending strategies to fit the needs of clients in particular case and in handling the questions by clients that inevitably arise about case strategies and the process of litigation.
