James Knox focuses his practice on insurance defense litigation, local government law, and government relations.
Prior to joining Turner Padget, James spent six years with the South Carolina Association of Counties as a staff attorney and lobbyist. During that time, he advised counties statewide on a broad range of legal matters and developed public policy and legislation on behalf of county government. This experience provided him with diplomacy and negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of how state and local government operate. He currently serves as a town attorney and provides consultation to local governments.
James’ strong work ethic, analytical skills, and mission focus serves his clients well. His enjoyment in problem solving and helping others is what led him to the practice of the law. He enjoys finding innovative solutions to problems and takes a pragmatic approach to finding what works best for his clients.
James takes great pride in being a fifth generation South Carolinian from Greenwood. He also serves in the South Carolina Army National Guard as an officer and Apache helicopter pilot and has deployed to Iraq and Kuwait. In his free time, he enjoys running, hunting, and flying.
