Eliza Hudson Lay is an associate in Turner Padget’s Charleston office, where she is a member of the firm’s litigation team. She represents clients throughout South Carolina in insurance coverage and bad faith, personal injury defense, and premises liability matters, and works with clients to navigate complex disputes and develop practical strategies tailored to their legal and business needs.

Eliza’s practice encompasses litigation and defense matters at various stages, from evaluating claims and developing case strategy through discovery, negotiations, and resolution. She works closely with Turner Padget’s experienced litigation and insurance attorneys to provide clients with thoughtful, practical guidance and a coordinated approach to their legal needs.

A South Carolina native, Eliza has gained experience in a variety of legal settings throughout the state. During law school, she worked with multiple law firms across South Carolina, gaining exposure to a range of practice areas, litigation strategies, and client needs. She also gained valuable insight into the litigation process while clerking for the Honorable Jennifer B. McCoy, Chief Administrative Judge for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, in the Charleston County Circuit Court. These experiences helped cultivate her passion for litigation and continue to shape her practical, client-focused approach.
