William "Billy" Horvath defends individuals and businesses in both state and federal court in all phases of litigation in cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, automobile accidents, trucking accidents, premises liability, construction defects, and commercial disputes. He has tried roughly twenty cases to verdict as lead counsel with favorable results, including many defense verdicts and verdicts well under the last settlement offers.

Billy’s diverse legal background, strong work ethic, and attention to detail allow him to efficiently handle a wide-variety of cases. Billy received his undergraduate and law degree from Valparaiso University. While in law school, he served as an extern for the Honorable Magistrate Judge Andrew P. Rodovich of the Northern District of Indiana and for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Indiana. He also served as an extern with the Indiana State Public Defender’s Office and as the Executive Managing Editor of the Valparaiso University Law Review.

Following law school, Billy practiced law in Indianapolis, Indiana where he defended individuals and both small and large companies in a wide-range of civil matters. Thereafter, Billy became licensed in South Carolina and joined Turner Padget’s litigation team.

 

Litigation

  • Obtained defense verdict in jury trial with admitted liability where Plaintiff sought to recover over a half million dollars in damages.
  • Obtained a defense verdict for a trucking company and its truck driver in a jury trial. In that case, the driver of a semi-tractor and trailer rear ended a vehicle on a highway resulting in significant injuries to the Plaintiff.
  • Obtained jury verdict under the alleged damages and with fault attributed to the Plaintiff in an accident involving a car and bicyclist.
  • Obtained jury verdict for $15,000 in an admitted liability case where Plaintiff sought to recover over $200,000 in damages.
  • Obtained many jury verdicts well below the damages claimed by the other side.
  • Motion for Summary Judgment for national hotel in injury case.
  • Motion for Summary Judgment for company and individual owner of an animal in a bite case.
