Law.com Mid-Market Pro Features Turner Padget's North Carolina Expansion

Posted On January 28, 2026

Turner Padget’s expansion into Charlotte and plans for broader growth across North Carolina were featured in Law.com’s Mid-Market Pro, which highlighted the firm’s client-driven approach to growth and its long-term vision for the state.

The article notes that the nearly century-old, South Carolina-based firm opened its first North Carolina office in Charlotte as a strategic step to better serve existing clients in the state. The Charlotte office is led by Shareholder David A. Luzum, a business litigator who joined the firm, alongside Ben Calhoun, a longtime Turner Padget attorney who relocated from the firm’s Columbia office.

Chief Executive Officer C. Pierce Campbell told Law.com that Charlotte was a natural choice for the firm’s first North Carolina location, given its role as a booming business hub and its proximity to Turner Padget’s existing offices across the Southeast. He emphasized that the firm has represented North Carolina clients for years and that the Charlotte office provides the “boots on the ground” needed to better support those clients and build a statewide practice.

The Law.com feature also underscored Turner Padget’s disciplined growth philosophy. Firm leadership described plans to expand organically in Charlotte and across North Carolina based on client needs, with litigation as the initial focus, with additional practice areas to follow as demand grows.

David shared that joining Turner Padget presented a rare opportunity to continue his business litigation practice in Charlotte while helping build a North Carolina platform within an established, relationship-driven firm. Ben echoed that sentiment, noting both the professional opportunity to help launch the office and the personal significance of relocating closer to family in North Carolina.
